I wish I could give 4.5 stars honestly because this was almost a perfect 4 meals. I ordered the curry goat (my personal favorite) with rice and peas (beans) with green beans, the oxtails with cabbage, the red snapper with cabbage, and the jerk chicken with rice and peas. Wow. I was very satisfied with all of these meals. Plenty in portions, tender meat (a couple of oxtails were majority fat) but the flavoring of the curry and sauces and seasonings were perfect (and spicy ofc!). The jerk chicken is probably the spiciest. I wouldn't say the curry goat or oxtails aren't that spicy. The red snapper had a good amount of spice. It also had a lot of bones. So prepare for that & be careful. This location only offers pick up orders inside of a carry-out so the process was efficient, organized, straightforward and easy. Amazing dinners!

Wow. Some of the best Jamaican food I've ever had. It is the definition of a hole in the wall as it is literally inside of a gas station but do not let that deter you. The food is authentic, the service is authentic and they have so many options especially for vegans and vegetarians. I ate my food so fast and I'm usually a slow eater so that should tell you how good it was.

Food was super authentic and delicious. Had a bit of a wait but the quality was great.

After several years staying away from this place, I tried it again several months ago and have been back multiple times since. I think my previous overly greasy experience was an anomaly. I order an XL with jerk chicken, rice&peas, and cabbage, and it's always quite good. The ambiance in a gas station leaves a bit to be desired though.

I'm going to resist the temptation to compare Mirage Express to Dexter's, because it's a different type of restaurant, entirely. As the name implies, ME was intended to be more of a "take out joint," and it fits that bill perfectly. The service was fast and friendly. It took 5 minutes to prepare three meals. The prices were low...14 bucks fed me and my wife, and when we were done eating, we were more than satisfied. (Mind you, I didn't feel stuffed like a gluttonous hippopotamus with gastroparesis, but I don't need to feel that way after EVERY meal!) The food was excellent. The curried goat with stir fried cabbage was great. The jerk chicken was cooked and seasoned perfectly; it fell off the bone and brought on just enough heat. The cornbread fritters (Festival) were fantastic. Not so great were the oxtails. They were "just ok," as was the rice and beans. Although ME doesn't have alcohol, they have a cooler full of American and Jamaican soft drinks. The patties? Like those from Dexter's, the patties, unfortunately, are not made in house. Caribbean food is something that this town has been lacking; I'm really psyched that Toledo has a second Jamaican restaurant!
